FEBRUARY  2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! (Is it too late to say that already?)

Whatta non-stop blast 2011 was! Just back from Europe and can already tell 2012 is gonna be more of the same fun! The thing that probably put the biggest smile on my face last year was being allowed back in the USA after 5 years... Here are some of my other highlights from 2011:

- Started the year off with a 6-week winter tour of Europe (with only 2 days off...Oof!)
- Played a kiler set with The DING-DONGS in Montreal..with hopefully more shows to follow!
- Toured the USA (and bits of Canada) with my band The Tandoori Knights
- Started that USA tour at the biggest party on the planet - The Norton Records 25th Anniversary Weekend !
- Was hired to be a kind of Colonel Saunders-type mascot for the Degeue Burger (the "disgusting" burger...see below for video) by 300 Au Max, a bowling alley in Montreals South Shore.
- Made trips out to Spain for the High Rockabilly Fest (w/ RCA's Jimmy Dell) and Finland for the Goofin' Records R'N'R Weekend (w/ Specialty's Roddy Jackson)
- Had 6 releases out in 2011 -  (1 LP, 4 EP's and a limited 7")
- Ended the year in London, England on New Years Eve, backed by the House Rockers.

Here's hoping 2012 will kick even more butt ...Cheers!

USA TOUR - Nov '11
We (Tandoori Knights) started off in style - at the Norton Records 25th Anniversary - playing with top faves like The Sonics, ? and The Mysterions, The 5678's, , Phantom Surfers, Andre Williams, Untamed Youth, Mighty Hannibal, Luis & The Wildfires, The South Bay Surfers (SBS even joined the TK's on stage for a sneak at our upcoming single, "Ali Oop"!) and so many more...Then we made our way up & down along the East Coast even spending a great (and much needed) Thanksgiving day-off in the best city in the universe, Memphis, TN - Thanks to the Hi-Tone for feeding us turkey - a new one every 5 minutes (Fried, Smoked, Roasted, etc..I'm talkin' bout the food!)!...Super great time seeing lotsa old faces and new ones... On the last night of the tour I sliced my finger pretty bad, it's stitched up now but the doctor says I shouldn't even LOOK at a guitar for at least 2 weeks, so I had to postpone a couple of shows in early December but'll be back 100% in no time.
  **FINGER UPDATE!  It's doin' good!**

Check this great video for BHAJI BLUES that Nick Benidt surprised us with...Enjoy!

Strange Dept.
I was playing out in Southern Ontario recently, and just down the street 80's rock band Helix (seriously, click the linkwas playing too...A girl I know was at the Helix gig hanging out with their drummer and he says to her - "If I wasn't stuck here playing drums, I'd be down the street at the Bloodshot Bill show" !! Ha, I dunno, I just found this too funny!

Europe was a blast - *burp*!  6 week tour with 2 days off - AYYYIIIEE!... Was able to play with great musical buddies like Elvis Pummel (Germany), Les Chemiks (France) & Jake La Botz (USA)... Every town has a special drink - and I tried 'em ALL!... Ate as much pasta as humanly possible (except in Italy, where we ate hamburgers, go figure)... Visited Link Wray's grave (check the BB facebook page for pics) before playing at WRAY, a Link-inspired club with cool shots of him and his song titles randomly scrawled over the walls...Played with about a billion one-man bands (Why do promoters do this? If the band is a trio, do they book a "Night of 3-man bands"?! I think it's stupid.)...Drank 9 expressos one night in Italy (on a dare from Deke Dickerson) before my show- woo! never again, felt like steam was coming outta my chest - and it probably was!..Played a cool 50's inspired diner, Giddy Up, in Italy that actually played cool music! Not like most 50's diners with pics of Marilyn & Elvis hangin' on the wall and when you walk in you're blasted with shit techno music! Try still finding something like that in North America!...My amp died about 3 shows in, and the hi-hat died on the first night....Traded some T-shirts for a little portable amp, good deal, I say...In Berlin, they made 100 bottles of custom Bloodshot Bill Beer, can you say "prost"?..Went to a "jam night" in Amsterdam after our gig, where they wouldn't let us jam...Everything you heard about Swedish girls being super duper uber drop dead hot? A myth, I tells ya! I'm from Montreal and you can't beat the girls here! And finally, this silly interview I did with Jake La Botz (who happens to be the guitarist of Blues Hammer (!) from the movie Ghost World!)...Looking forward to coming back in the Fall!

 ...MORE NEWS!
Wow, whatta year 2010 was in BB land - 4 European tours, great shows with Andre Williams, The Sonics, The Trashmen, Wanda Jackson, A-Bones, Dex Romweber Duo, Heavy Trash, The Gories, Roddy Jackson, released a buncha new records including The Ding-Dongs (with mark "BBQ" Sultan) & Tandoori Knights (with King Khan), an Ontario cop gave me money (!) and, wow, so much more!  Here's to 2011 and more fun stuff!

- I thought this was neat, taken from a show in Toronto, Nov.'10.

- Weirdest thing that happened to me in a while - In Ontario, loading my gear up after a gig, a cop walks up to me and tells me he caught a bit of my set and how he really dug it and how great it was to see something "fresh"... I'm confused, cause I'm not used to getting compliments from the police, but then he confuses me more by giving me $20 (!), as a sort of tip.... Go figure, eh!

- Wanna see me mumble and talk really bad french?  Check out this interview clip from Musiqueplus.

- Here's a neat-o profile CBC's Bande-a-Part did on me - just your average "day in the life" kinda thing (massages, limos, wine, chicken wings, piggin' out, etc...ya know, average!).

- Click here to read an article/interview done recently for No Depression Magazine....Enjoy!

- On the Hog Maw 10-inch "Homicide", There are 3 songs (Afraid To Take A Chance, Diddley Babe and Tellin' Ya Baby) credited to me that I did not write, this is a mistake on the labels part, not me trying to take credit for 3 kick-ass songs - Sorry for any confusion!
